It’s been a tragic week for Dhaka. On Tuesday night a five-storey construction site collapsed, killing more than 20 people. And last night in Old Dhaka an electrical transformer exploded, causing a fire to start in an adjacent store selling inflammable plastics. So far 116 people have been confirmed dead, including 15 guests at an engagement party. A reporter I met today at the scene said that one family managed to escape – but everyone else in the apartment block is presumed dead.
