Monir currently lives alone in a small room. The roof and walls are made of tin and the floor, brick. His pregnant wife returned to Khulna shortly before giving birth, because neither have relatives in Dhaka to help care for their baby. In fact, only Monir’s wife and mother-in-law know he's a rickshaw puller, as the job’s status is "the lowest of all."
